Near the end of each year, a ‘color of the year’ is announced. Never heard of it? I’m not surprised! I hadn’t either until a year ago. What’s it all about?
The Pantone Color of the Year program engages the design community and color enthusiasts (like paint companies) in a color conversation. A color is selected that expresses the global cultural climate in one distinct hue. This color mostly influences interior design.
For 2025, the Pantone Color Institute selected PANTONE 17-1230 “Mocha Mousse” as the color of the year. It’s a warm brown hue that suggests chocolate and coffee, hinting to our desire for comfort.
Experts also pick top paint colors for the year. The 2025 colors have all been released now and include saturated jewel tones, berry shades, and moody neutrals.
For weddings on the other hand, the trendsetters are Minted + BRIDES®. In October they unveiled their 2025 Wedding Color of the Year as “Verona Sunset” (below), a vibrant orange. We will be seeing it in everything from bridesmaid’s dresses to table décor. On its own this citrusy color packs a punch, but combined with other shades it will add a lovely glow in any season or aesthetic. It will add energy as a primary color, will support other bright colors as a secondary shade, and just a touch will add a playful note to a neutral color theme.
So why am I, a flower farmer-florist, telling you about these colors of the year? Because those colors have an impact on floral design as well.
With our 2025 growing list complete, whether for your home or special event, the POSIES color palette of flowers has you covered!
